Setting Up the Nursery

Your baby will spend a lot of time in the nursery, so you need to make sure that nursery is safe. While you might want the design to be to be cute, the room should also be organized and comfortable.

The crib is an important part of a nursery. It doesn’t matter what type you get, but it needs to be safe and comfortable. Choose a well-built crib that doesn’t easily shake when you pass by. There are cribs with drawers if you need some extra space for your other baby stuff.

Choosing a mattress with the right fit for the crib is also important. Make sure it fits tightly into the crib because you don’t want your baby to be caught between the rails and mattress. A steady foam mattress would be the best choice.

It’s best to put only a little foam wedge on the crib, this will prevent your baby from rolling on his stomach. Experts still recommend that the baby sleeps newborns, like your baby, should still sleep on his back or side, initially. Pillows are recommended only when your baby turns one. Also, you can use cotton sheets and blankets for easy layering, and to keep the baby at just the proper temperature. Keep it clean and fresh.

Everything in the room should be soft and relaxing. Keep the colors in the right combination to make it a calm and peaceful place for your baby at bedtime.

Dress your baby in a clean, comfortable, and breathable sleepwear that would help maintain your baby’s ideal body temperature. Babies should sleep in rooms between 16-20°C. This will help your little one avoid waking up in the middle of the night.

Always make sure that the nursery room is dust-free and clutter-free. Dust might make your baby irritable, and you don’t want him to have a runny nose during bedtime.

Keeping your baby safe and comfortable, that’s the first consideration when you’ve just started building your baby’s nursery.
